Meet Jodie

Hi Jodie

Hi Courtney

You’ve just joined us for Saturdays only but quite a lot of people are quite excited by your return?

Yes, I started at Toni and Guy with a lot of the team and quite a few of Catherine’s clients where actually with me before so its been lovely to see some old faces.

What age did you decide you wanted to get in to hairdressing?

I started as a Saturday girl, I think around about 14.

How long have you been doing it?

I think it’s been about 26 years now!! Oh, god that makes me sound old, let’s go with vintage

How did you get started?

It actually started because I wanted a pair of Levi jeans and my mum told me I had to go and get a job, thankfully I ended up loving it and I’m still at it.

What’s your number one hair care tip?

Ha don’t ever piss your hairdresser off; those scissors can be a weapon.

Oh God, I’ll keep that in mind!
Who’s your hair idol?

Brigitte Bardot, love her hair.

What hair product could you not live without?

Hairspray, I’m a complete hair spray girl. I do love the texturizing volume spray as well though, I use it on most clients.

What’s your favourite hair service that you currently offer?

I love doing a big blow dry, especially when its for an event for the client, it can really lift an outfit and a mood.

What’s the next big thing in hair trends?

I think big fringes are going to be coming back in this summer.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Yoga, yoga and more yoga. I go to India quite regularly to study and this year when I go I’m going to be assisting my teacher.

Best moment or greatest achievement in your career?

I assisted Guido Palau for fashion week quite a few times in London and Paris which was an amazing experience. I also was part of the team that did the hair in 2007 for Dancing on Ice, long days but that was a load of fun.

Where do you want your career to take to take you?

I’d love to go back to fashion week, may be do new York next time.

And finally any last words?

Om shanti, shanti, shanti (Peace, peace, peace).

So there you have it, Jodie is with us most Saturdays and if you’re lucky she might even show you one or two of her (yoga) moves.

Meet Sophie

Hey Sophie

Hi Courtney

For those of you that don’t know Sophie, she is our newest fully qualified Stylist here at CNG.

Yes I am and I love it, but I’m not new ha, I’ve been here for ages now.

So, lets get started….

What age did you decide you wanted to get in to hairdressing?

It was about the age of fourteen or fifteen I think, year ten at secondary school.

How long have you been doing it?

Six years in total now, I’ll have been at CNG for three years this June.

How did you get started?

I had previously done some work experience at a salon in the city centre and loved it so when it came to picking my options at secondary school I decided to attend the training school they had there. I started doing my colour training with Ruth from Toni and Guy.

What’s your number one hair care tip?

I always section my hair and blow-dry it forward from the crown, I just think it gives more volume around the face and a neater hairline.

Who’s your hair idol?

Oh, Amanda Seyfried has beautiful hair.

What hair product could you not live without?

I always have a bottle of the Therapy Protein cream in my kit. Oh, and Olaplex if I’m getting my hair coloured.

What’s your favourite hair service that you currently offer?

I’ve just been down to London for a Toni and Guy course and LOVED doing the bevel cuts, they are my favourite.

What’s the next big thing in hair/colour trends?

Rainbow roots, if you haven’t seen them yet google them.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m a big foodie so I love going out for meals with friends, family or my boyfriend. I go to Antibo’s near the train station quite a bit, their pizza is to ‘dye’ for (Get it?).

Where do you want your career to take to take you?

Everywhere baby! Ha, I’d love to do more avant-garde hair, maybe behind the scenes at fashion shows or shoots.

And finally, any last words for everyone Soph?

Keep your hair beautiful baby!

And that’s all from Sophie, part time Hairdresser, part time Hippy!
PEACE OUT
